Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here, representing Hector Alfonso’s bracket is the winner of the 2024 Battle of the Bands tournament. Wish You Were Here beat Led Zeppelin IV who represented Coop by a 60.9% to 39.1% margin.
For Alfonso it is the third consecutive year he has won the tournament. This was a more unconventional route for Alfonso as the previous two years he won with a number one seed (Nirvana’s Nevermind and Prince’s Purple Rain). This time it was a 6th seeded album with Wish You Were Here that rode a Pink Floyd wave in this tournament.
For Pink Floyd, it’s sweet revenge. In the 2020 Battle of the Bands, Floyd lost to Zeppelin in the finals.
Thank you to Hector and John for once again participating and congratulations to Hector. We will have an Album Archaeology Show on Wish You Were Here later this year.
Thanks to our audience as well. Unfortunately the voting did not meet the 600 vote threshold to kick in the gift card bonuses, but we still will be giving two SWAG items away. Those winners will be announced the week of August 5, 2024. Note Prizes will not be sent out until the end of August.
To follow the current version of the brackets, see below:
