Coop’s Top 10 Album Countdown: The New Oldies

With Dave doing an amazing job with his Top 50 Countdown, I was trying to figure how I wanted to sum up the Year in Music for 2020. I’ve always been an album guy, so I figured I would come up with a list of top albums.

Something seems to be missing these days. It seems that record companies, radio stations, and streaming services are pushing some the great established musicians to the background. As a result these veteran artists are not getting the attention hey deserve. Throughout 2020, I’ve noted on Prime Time Jukebox there has been a resurgence in creativity – particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I felt there needed to be a way to recognize these veteran artists.

Enter the Top 10 Album Countdown: The New Oldies

The main point will be simple – to make this list you must have at least 20 years of producing established music.The album by the artist must have been released between November 1st, 2019 and October 31st, 2020.

I also feel the work of an album as a cohesive unit has become a lost art, so this will hopefully not only bring attention back to the artists, but to the concept of an album. There has been a lot of amazing work by veteran artists in 2020 and I think this list will highlight it.
