Joseph Michael “Dusty” Hill, the bassist, keyboard playersongwriter, and vocalist for ZZ Top has passed away. He was 72 years. He was one of theabdn members known for the signature beard.
Hill joined Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard in 1969 to form ZZ Top. He was with the band throughout its tenure. This month, the band played their first performances without Hill in more than 50 years. The official reason given was he had to address a “hip issue”.
Various outlets reported that Hill died in this sleep. No official cause of death has been given
ZZ Top issued the following statement:
We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature, and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.‘
