Something seems to be missing these days. It seems that record companies, radio stations, and streaming services are pushing some the great established musicians to the background. As a result these veteran artists are not getting the attention they deserve. Enter the Top 10 Album Countdown: The New Oldies. The main point is simple – to make this list you must have at least 20 years of producing established music. The album by the artist must have been released between November 1st, 2020 and October 31st, 2021.
#10 Elvis Costello – La Face de Pendule à Coucou
For the second year in a row, Declan McManus, the artist better known as Elvis Costello has landed the New Oldies list. This year, he comes in with the #10 Album of the Year: La Face de Pendule à Coucou.
Costello landed at number five in 2020 on the New Oldies with with Hey Clockface. With his follow-up album, La Face de Pendule à Coucou it translates to “Cuckoo Clock Face”. Essentially this 2021 follow-up is an EP, where Costello takes some of the songs of Hey Clockface, remixes them and sings it in French!
It’s a unique take, on a unique album. The result is a psychedelic European sound, that is quite addicting the more it’s listened to.
