Lisa Marie Presley, Daughter of Elvis Dead at 54

Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley has died suddenly. She was 54 years old.

Presley went into cardiac arrest on January 12th.  Presley’s heart was restarted after CPR was administered, en route to a hospital. She died later that day. Her last public appearance was two days earlier at the 80th Golden Globe Awards, which she attended with her mother, Priscilla Presley.

She was born in 1968. At four years old, her parents Elvis and Priscilla separated. Her father Elvis died in 1977 when she was nine years old.

Presley was married four times: First to musician Danny Keough, most famously to singer Michael Jackson followed by actor Nicolas Cage, and music producer Michael Lockwood. She had two children with Keough (Benjamin, Riley) and twin daughters with Lockwood (Harper, Finley). Her son Benjamin committed suicide of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on July 12, 2020.

It was her ex husband Keough who administered CPR until paramedics arrived. Despite years of divorce, Keough and Presley maintained a close relationship.

Presley launched her career in 2003 with her debut album, To Whom It May Concern, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. She played a key role in the songwriting on that album. This was followed up by 2005’s Now What and 2012’s Storm and Grace.

After Elvis Presley’s death at Graceland on August 16, 1977, his will appointed his father, Vernon Presley, executor and trustee. The beneficiaries of the trust were Vernon, Elvis’ grandmother Minnie Mae Presley, and Lisa Marie, whose inheritance was to be held in trust until her 25th birthday.  After Vernon’s death in 1979, Elvis’ former wife Priscilla Presley was named as one of three trustees in his will. Under Priscilla’s stewardship, the value of the estate grew to $100 million. Lisa Marie, who was the last surviving beneficiary inherited the estate on her 25th birthday in 1993. She became more active in the involvement of managing the estate. In 2005 she sold 85 percent of the estate’s business holdings but maintained ownership of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.
