2023 Grammy Award Winners Announced

The 2023 (65th edition) Grammy Awards took place Sunday February 5th at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles, California. The evening was highlighted by Beyoncé leading the night in wins while setting the record for most Grammy wins, and a stirring 50th anniversary tribute to Hip Hop.

Beyoncé would be the only artist to capture 4 Grammys for the night. With her win in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category, Beyoncé passed Hungarian-British conductor Georg Solti for the record of most Grammy awards in the ceremony’s history, with 32. Going into the night, Beyoncé was had the most nominations for the 2023 awards with nine, and was tied for the all time nomination record of 88 (tied with her husband Jay-Z).

Kendrick Lamar was second in most nominations with eight and would also be one of four artists to win 3 Grammy Awards along with Brandi Carlile, Kirk Franklin, and Bonnie Raitt.

The “Big 3” categories saw some upsets. Lizzo’s About Damn Time upended favorites Steve Lacy (Bad Habit) and Harry Styles (As It Was). Styles would surprise some folks winning Album of the Year (Harry’s House). Meanwhile Bonnie Raitt surprised many in the Song of the Year category winning for Just Like That.

In the performances category, there was an all-star collaboration to celebrate 50 Years of Hip Hop. Tribute performances were held for Loretta Lynn, Takeoff, and Christine McVie. There was an all-start tribute to Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson featuring Robinson, Stevie Wonder, WanMor, and Chris Stapleton. A full list of the performances can be found here:
