Two iconic artists from the 1980s are now eliminated from the Battle of the Bands: 80s Madness. First Van Halen suffered its second defeat in the sweet 16 at the hands of N.W.A. on Dave’s bracket. Meanwhile Bruce Springsteen was eliminated by Peter Gabriel on Coop’s bracket. The wins by N.W.A. and Peter Gabriel kept Hip Hop and Brit Rock alive in this tournament.
On Dave’s bracket, 3rd seeded Van Halen’s 1984 album was never in it. They fell behind second seeding N.W.A.’s Straight Outta of Compton from the time the first vote was cast. They never were able to catch up and went down losing 61.9% to 38.1%
On Coop’s bracket, the match between second seeded Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A. and third seeded Peter Gabriel’s So was close. In the end Springsteen could not get over the hump losing 52.6% to 47.4%
