Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2024 Nominations for Induction

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced 14 artists have been nominated for its 2024 induction class. The 2024 inductees will be announced in late April with an induction ceremony scheduled to take place in Cleveland this Fall.

In order to be considered eligible, artists or bands must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago. The following is the list of artists nominated for 2024. In parentheses are listed the total times historically the artist has been nominated.

• A Tribe Called Quest (3)

Ten out of 15 of the Nominees are on the ballot for the first time, including Mariah Carey, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O’Connor, Ozzy Osbourne and Sade.  A Tribe Called Quest has been nominated for the this consecutive year.

“This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation in a press release. “Continuing in the true spirit of Rock & Roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”

In terms of the process, nominee ballots will be sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry. An artist’s musical impact and influence on other artists, length and depth of career and body of work as well as innovation and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is once again the opportunity to participate in the Induction selection process with the 2024 Induction Fan Vote. From February 1st through April 26th 2024, fans can vote every day at vote.rockhall.com, or at the museum in Cleveland. The top vote getters will comprise a single “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to select the 2024 Inductees.
