Top seeds Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours and Led Zeppelin IV had crushing victories at the expense of the Bee Gees. Fleetwood Mac would take out the Bee Gees-led Saturday Night Fever soundtrack while Led Zeppelin annihilated The Bee Gees Spirits Having Flown album. The two top seeds move on to Round 2.
Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album, the top seed in Hector Alfonso’s bracket and first overall pick led from start to finish over the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack to win the battle with 80% of the vote.
Led Zeppelin, the 2020 Battle of the Bands champion won by even a bigger margin over The Bee Gees’ Spirits Having Flown album capturing 93.8% of the vote. Led Zepplin’s IV album led the voting from start to finish.
Hector Alfonso is the 2022 and 2023 Battle of the Bands champion winning in consecutive years with Nirvana’s Nevermind and Prince and the Revolution’s Purple Rain.
On Hector’s bracket,Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours will face the winner of the 4-5 matchup between The Who”s Who’s Next and Boston’s Boston. Meanwhile on Coop’s bracket, Led Zeppelin IV faces the winner of the 4-5 matchup between Blondie’s Parallel Lines and Billy Joel’s The Stranger.
