Weekend Cigar Pairing Mix: 5 Tracks for the CAO V660 Carb

There is a bit of a lull in new music right now, so I want to start a new feature. I will try to do some short features on cigar pairing mixes for the weekend. This weekend it is the CAO V660 Carb. A dar, rich and full flavour box pressed 6×60 in the Flathead line, which is a line that I love. Now, you could have a mix of 50 songs for a 6×60, but here are 5 that must be in your mix.

Usher: Good Good

Off of his new record Coming Home, this is a track that has everything I love about Usher. It has a smooth beat, great vocals and just oozes sex. This will kick off your V660 is style. This is proof that Usher still has it and cameos by 21 Savage and Summer Walker really takes this track up a notch. This is a fun and sexy track that has great energy and is an excellent track to kick off a mix.

Madvillain: All Caps

Madlib and MF DOOM teamed up for one of the most influential records in modern hip hop. Cited as an inspiration for Tyler the Creator and others, Madvillain brings some complex beats and rhyme schemes to a record full of deep cut samples and fun. I love listening to MF DOOM go for it and spit bars with some of the craziest rhymes out there. This is a shorter track with a killer beat and a bar that includes “don’t talk about my moms yo,” which is brilliant.

John Coltrane: I’m Old Fashioned

In general, jazz goes well with cigars. Jazz from the blue period goes very well with maduro cigars as it lazily stumbles in the darkness. Coltrane’s track has a dark and smoky vibe with some deep bass and a glittering piano piece. I love how the song flows with a dark vibe that’s broken sporadically with piano and trumpet. I love me some well placed jazz and this track really hits its stride about 3 minutes in.

Betty Davis: Anti Love Song

If you listen to Cigar Jukebox, you know about my love for Betty Davis. All cigars can use some sexy funk and the V660 screams for it with its rich finish and full body. Betty Davis’ edgy and sexy funk is an excellent pairing for this cigar and the funk in this track is well accented with some electric guitar, which gives it a little kick. Betty Davis is amazing and must be on every mix in existence.

Black Sabbath: Black Sabbath

This dark cigar needs a track about dark magic to finish it off. This is the track that kicked off one of the most influential metal bands of all time and is still a favourite of mine. There is something about the thick smoke of the V660 billowing as Ozzy sings about witches and black magic. I don’t think Black Sabbath gets the love they deserve as a band that changed the 70s metal landscape.
