The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced 14 artists have been nominated for its 2023 induction class. The 2023 inductees will be announced in May with an induction ceremony scheduled to take place in Cleveland this Fall.
In order to be considered eligible, artists or bands must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago. The following is the list of artists nominated for 2023. In parentheses are listed the total times historically the artist has been nominated.
- A Tribe Called Quest (2)

Of the 14 artists nominated, eight are first time nominees. For Rage Across the Machine, it marks the fifth time the band has been nominated for induction.
In terms of the process, nominee ballots are sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry. Factors that are to be considered include such as an artist’s musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation, and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is once again the opportunity to participate in the Induction selection process with the 2023 Induction Fan Vote. From February 1st through April 28th 2023, fans can vote every day at vote.rockhall.com, or at the museum in Cleveland. The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to select the 2023 Inductees.
