8th seeded Metallica’s Master of Puppets continued an improbable run in the 2023 Battle of the Bands Tournament. Metallica who won John’s bracket, took on top-seeded AC/DC’s Back in Black, the winner of Coop’s bracket and rolled to a 67.9% to 32.1% win. With that win, Metallica’s Master of Puppets advances to the championship matchup.
It wasn’t close, nor was it ever close. Metallica moved out to an early lead and never looked back. AC/DC never got close.
Metallica’s Master of Puppets, an 8-seed opened the tournament with a shocking upset over top seeded Michael Jackson’s Thriller. What followed were dominant wins over Bon Jovi and ZZ-Top to win John’s bracket and advance to the Final Four where it defeated AC/DC.

Metallica’s Master of Puppets have beaten two of the biggest albums in history in AC/DC’s Back in Black and Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
The Championship Match is set to open Tuesday May 9, 2023 (U.S.). Metallica Master of Puppets will take on the winner of the other Final Four matchup between Prince’s Purple Rain (top seed and winner of Hector’s bracket) and Guns N’ Roses, Appetite for Destruction (top seed and winner of Dave’s bracket)
