I Need This: 10 Collabs That Should be on Harry’s Next Record

I was listening to Harry’s House the other day and thought abut what he needs to freshen up his sound. Harry has come out with three records now and it is time he tries something new. He has tried different genres and has settled into a relatively safe pop groove on his new record. Thus far his solo act on these records have shot him into super stardom. However, one genre he has not explored is collaborations with other artists. He is big enough now to really get whoever he wants, but also such a student of music that I think he would try some interesting things on his next record. So, here are 10 artists I want to see Harry team-up with.

Orville Peck:

Peck actually opened for Harry on Halloween in 2021. Orville Peck has one of the most romantic country voices out there, while also possessing incredible range. His track Dead of Night highlights both of these qualities in a 60s era Buck Owens country epic. I think Harry and Peck doing a traditional country track with a modern pop twist would be amazing. This will also give Peck the exposure he deserves.

Lizzo:

This is pretty close to a no brainer. They are both buds and hung out a Coachella a few years ago. Picture it…Lizzo belting out “I love you bitch” with some jazz flute as Harry runs around in a feather boa….magic. But seriously, Lizzo has done some amazing collabs and her track About Damn Time is fire. I think they could make a fantastically fun track that would just melt the internet. Out of all the collabs I have on here, this is the one that has the best chance of happening.

HAIM:

I love HAIM. They are no stranger to collabs and their track Gasoline with Taylor Swift is amazing. They straddle the line between pop and indie rock in a way that makes their tracks both edgy and very catchy. A track with HAIM would give Harry a rock edge that was missing on his latest record. We know he can do a 70s style rock, so it would be great to hear him in a more modern rock context…speaking of rock….

Royal Blood:

Can you tell I’m excited for the new Royal Blood record? I want them to collab with everyone. I want them to be on Dolly’s new record and now I want them with Harry. They did such and amazing job with Run the Jewels on The Ground Below I want them with everyone. Harry went all rock on Kiwi, so it would be great to hear him dial it up to 11 with one of the most innovative rock duos out there.

Danger Mouse:

His work on Cheat Codes was so transformative that I would to hear what he would do producing a Harry track. The soul and funk he would conjure with Harry’s voice would be great. I have no idea if this would ever happen, but it would be amazing to hear what they would come up with.

Koffee:

Similar to Orville Peck, Koffee has opened for Harry in the US. Now, most of her collabs are within reggae…but they are fantastic…like Switch it Up with Protoje. I can see a similar structure with Harry, which is having Koffee come in on the chorus and then throw out a killer verse. She has incredible crossover potential and doing a track with Harry might put this over the top…similar to Ice Spice and Taylor Swift. Speaking of Taylor Swift….

Taylor Swift:

Ok. You can probably put this in the “it will never happen” pile, but I can still dream. For one, she is far bigger than Harry and doesn’t need it. Also, I am not sure if there is enough water under the bridge of their relationship. She has moved from pop star to musical artist icon. I can see a duet like Coney Island about a love lost. Even though this will never happen, it would be incredible and I would sob. Speaking of wish list collabs that will never happen…

Rihanna:

Ok, she’s a bit busy right now and is also one of the biggest women in pop music ever. Other than that… Anyway, let’s dream. Her first single in years Lift Me Up is a lesson in vocal mastery and proves she still has it. The emotional power in her vocal would be a good foil to Harry’s warm and more traditional pop style. They could have no music at all and have their combined vocal skill transcend time and space. Basically, I just want more new music from Rihanna and I will take it from anywhere.

The Chicks:

I don’t know why I want Harry to go country, but it would be fun. The success of Gaslighter has brought The Chicks back into the popular consciousness and they are hitting on all cylinders. Their remix of Daddy’s Lessons with Beyoncé shows that they can put out a fire track with a pop icon. Moreover, country has been a genre he has not really tried yet and to have him team up with such a talented and accomplished country band would be great.

Robert Glasper:

The last person on this list is the biggest swing, Robert Glasper. He is on the frontline of modern jazz with tracks like The Mighty Tree and he is always pushing the envelope. Hearing Harry try jazz with such an experimental and original jazz artist would be great. Glasper is very busy with touring and his own projects, so this will probably never happen, but just the thought of it is exciting.
