Billy Joel and Guns N Roses, two seven-seeds have won their first round match-ups in 90s Madness.
On Coop’s bracket, Billy Joel continued his success in 90s Madness. The 7th seeded Piano Man’s The River of Dreams won a back and forth battle over 2nd seeded Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell. Billy Joel rallied late in the final hours to defeat Meat Loaf capturing 53.3% of the vote. It’s the third year in a row Billy Joel has advanced to the Sweet 16.
Meanwhile on Surgeon’s bracket, the 7th seeded Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion 1/2 easily won its matchup over 2nd seeded The Tragically Hip’s Fully Completely. While on paper it looks like an upset, Guns N Roses was Surgeon’s first pick in the 90s Madness draft while Tragically Hip was his last round pick.
On Coop’s bracket, Billy Joel’s The River of Dreams faces 6th seeded Counting Crows’ August and Everything After in Round 2. On Surgeon’s bracket, Guns N Roses Use Your Illusion 1/2 faces 6th seeded Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter the Wu-Tang.
Round 2 (the Sweet Sixteen) begins today.
