80s Madness: Bon Jovi rallies to beat Public Enemy; Rush defeats Tears For Fears

Surgeon’s bracket provided for more drama in the 2023 Battle of the Bands. On Surgeon’s bracket, fifth-seeded Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet rallied from behind to defeat Public Enemy’s It Takes a Naation of Millions to Hold Us Back. Meanwhile on Hector’s Bracket, fifth-seeded Rush’s Moving Pictures had no problem eliminating Tears For Fears’ Songs From the Big Chair.

After Public Enemy built a comfortable lead over Bon Jovi on Day 1 of the 4-5 matchup on Surgeon’s matchup, Bon Jovi slowly chipped away at the lead, tied Public Enemy, and would eventually move ahead. The final totals were 57.1% for Bon Jovi’s Slippery when Wet and 42.9% for Public Enemy’s It Takes a Naation of Millions to Hold Us Back.

On Hector’s bracket, Rush’s Moving Pictures won 58.8% to 41.2% over Tears For Fears Songs From the Big Chair.  While the percentages were close to the Surgeon 4-5 matchup, Rush had more control of this matchup from start to finish.

The results of these 4-5 matchups, set up Sweet Sixteen matchups on both Surgeon (John) and Hector’s bracket. 8th seeded Metallica’s Master of Puppets will face 5th seeded Bon Jovi’ Slippery When Wet. Meanwhile on Hector’s bracket top-seeded Prince and the Revolution’s Purple Rain faces Rush’s Moving Pictures.
