Top Seeds Nirvana and U2 have won their first round matchups and have advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2021 Battle of the Bands.
Nirvana, the top seed in Dave’s bracket coasted to a win over 16th seed Radiohead capturing 85.7% percentage of the vote. For Radiohead, it’s the second year in a row the band has been eliminated in the first round. In 2020, Radiohead was a 9th seed and lost to BB King.
Meanwhile U2, the top seed in Coop’s bracket defeated Tears For Fears in a closer contest. After a fast start by U2, Tears For Fears closed the gap and in the end U2 would only capture 60% of the vote.
Nirvana will face the winner of 8-9 matchup between The Beastie Boys and The Grateful Dead. Meanwhile U2 will face the winner of the 8-9 matchup between Madonna and Miles Davis.
