2021 Battle of the Bands: McCartney and Springsteen Advance

Two legends of music advanced in the 6-11 matchups of the 2021 Battle of the Bands. On Coop’s side of the bracket, Sir Paul McCartney had the closest battle of the 2021 of the Tournament to date edging out The Beach Boys. Meanwhile on Dave’s side of the bracket, Bruce Springsteen had no problems eliminating The Chicks.

The McCartney-Beach Boys matchup brought back memories of the Beatles rivalry with The Beach Boys in the late 1960s, when the the bands were producing albums like Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (by McCartney’s Beatles) and Pet Sounds (by The Beach Boys). In the Battle of the Bands matchup on Coop’s bracket, the voting was tight from start to finish before the 6th seeded McCartney would edge out the win with 53.% of the vote.

Meanwhile on Dave’s bracket, 6th seeded Bruce Springsteen delivered a crushing defeat to 11th seeded Chicks capturing 80% of the vote.

McCartney’s win settles up a matchup on Coop’s bracket in Round 2 with his old friend, and eventual business rival Michael Jackson. Meanwhile Springsteen will take on James Brown, who scored an upset win over Taylor Swift in Round 1.

The women have continued to struggle in the 2021 Battle of the Bands. The loss by The Chicks brings them to 0-5 matchups for this year’s tournament.
