The upset invitational continues on Dave Burck’s side of the Battle of the Bands bracket. In the 3-14 matchup, 14th seeded James Brown delivered a crushing defeat to 3rd seeded Taylor Swift. Swift became the highest ranked seed to be eliminated. Meanwhile in the 3-14 matchup on Coop’s side of the bracket, 3rd seeded Michael Jackson had no problems defeating Kenny Rogers.
Brown, aka “The Godfather of Soul” would capture 60% in his victory over Swift. Swift struggled with the voting early, and was never able to make a run at Brown’s lead.
Meanwhile on Coop’s bracket, the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson led from start to finish in eliminating Country music legend Kenny Rogers capturing 63.6% of the vote.
On Dave’s bracket, Brown moves on to face the winner of the Bruce Springsteen – Chicks matchup. Meanwhile Jackson will face the winner of the Paul McCartney – Beach Boys matchup.
For Dave, this marks the third big upset in a row. Previous upset winners have included wins by 12th seeded Stevie Wonder and the 13th seed Clash. While it’s International Women’s month, it has also be a tough tournament for the ladies as they are 0-4 in the first round matchups of the 2021 Battle of the Bands Tournament.
